Operating Systems

An Operating System is the Systems Software that runs the whole computer, without an operating system the computer would not be able to function. Different operating systems function at different paces, older operating systems like Windows Vista operated very slowly, where Windows 8 functions at a high rate of speed.

 

Disk Utilities

Disk Utilities is the software that checks, and if necessary, repairs the computers disks. Another name for this is Disk Management. Disk Utilities checks the computer for errors and removes them, this is called Repair Disk. Repair Disk verifies and, if problems are found corrects the errors with the Directory on a disk.

File Managers

File Managers is the tools on a computer that organises that files and folders. Folders and files can be ordered in alphabetical order (or reverse alphabetical), type of file, by size or by the date it was modified. Different people use one of these orders mostly because of preference and ease of use by the user.

Back Up

Back ups are used by anyone that  is afraid of there computer being infected by a virus, most virus' could effect your files and corrupt them. Back ups stores all your files including your operating system and drivers on a secure part of the hard drive that cannot be affected by virus or malware. This is program is widely used by businesses or organisations that have more to lose if there computers are.

Synchronisation

synchronisation is the connection between two or more devices. Synchronisation allows you to exchange data between the two or more devices, for example; a user's contact list on one mobile phone can be synchronised with another phone. Data synchronisation can be local, where the device and computer are side-by-side, and remote synchronisation is when a user is mobile and the data is synchronised over a mobile network.

Diagnostic Tools

Diagnostic tools helps find what the problem is, which parts of the computer is causing the issue and how to solve the problem. These problems can range from computer software or hardware failures; memory issues causing the users system to freeze, hardware issues such as hard drive faults. Computer problems are a major inconvenience to users that do not have a great understanding of computers, Diagnostic Tools are one of the most useful piece of systems software.
