Introduction

In this page i will show videos on customising Microsoft Word to show anyone with any visual impairment how to make the program easier to use for the specific requirements.

Minimizing the Ribbon

In this video i will show user how to minimize the ribbon on Microsoft Word. This could help the visually impaired user by reducing the amount of things on the screen at once and enlarge the page to see things better. The minimizing of the ribbon, showing more of the of the page, is helpful if a user's vision is impaired by too many icons or buttons on a screen, plus enlarges the page and makes the screen area wider too make it seen better.

Quick Access Toolbar

In the video i will show user how to add more buttons to the Quick Access Toolbar or Q.A.T. This could help a visually impaired person by adding more buttons the toolbar making it easier to find and use the features on Microsoft Word instead of searching through a number of buttons before they find what they are looking for.

Page Color and Text Color

In this video i will show the user how to change the page color and the color of the text in Microsoft Word. A visually impaired person may see different colors better than others, so by changing the page and text colour, the screen would become easier for the user to see what is being inputted on the screen.

Screen Resolution

In this video I will show the user how to change the screen resolution. Changing the screen resolution would help a visually impaired person by altering the screen brightness, size of the screen and how many pixels that are shown that could make a visually impaired persons vision better or worse. Some Visually impaired people cant see  as well as others and so changing the screen resolution can help these people by making the screen easier to see.

Ease of Access Centre

In this section i will show you how to use the Ease of Access Centre on Windows. In each video i will show the user how to use the narrator and the magnifier and its functions on each.

Narrator

In this video i will show the user how to use the narrator. Narrator helps the visually impaired user by telling the what they are doing or and what they are spelling on the screen if the user cant see the writing clearly by highlighting the specific text. The Narrator can read on-screen text aloud and describe some events (like error messages), helping you use the computer without the display. With the audio description included with the narrator, you can hear a narration of whats happening in a video.

Magnifier

In this video I will show the user how to use the Magnifier tool in the Ease of Access Centre. Magnifier is to help people with low vision but also comes in handy for everyone. Magnifier has the ability to enlarge hard to see text, icons pictures on the screen. This tool will enlarge the screen to what ever size is needed for the visually impaired person. There is also different lenses and views that can be changed on the users preference. These lenses include Full screen, Lens and Docked and can be zoomed up from 100% (normal) too 1600% zoom.

NVDA

NVDA stands for Non Visual Desktop Access. This is a program that can be downloaded from the website http://www.nvaccess.org/. This program is easier to use and easier to understand than the Narrator from Microsoft. NVDA is fully functional and portable, you can download it to your PC or put it on a USB pen so you can take it to school or anywhere else. With it a Visually impaired user could operate it where ever they need too.
