CD Rom


A CD Rom is CD Read Only Memory. Data is burned onto the surface of the disc using a laser beam in the CD drive. A laser beam is also used to read the data stored on the disc. Data can only be written once i.e once the pits are bured on to the surface, that part of the disc cannot be used again for storage although it can be re-played endless times. Most music discs are of the format.






USB

A USB is a type of Flash memory. Flash memory is a non-volatile, solid state memory storage device. A USB keeps its data without power and has no moving parts. A USB is connect to a computer through the USB ports on a PC or Laptop. USB Pens can hold  memory from 2GB onwards. A USB Pens gives people a portable way to move files from one computer to another.






External Hard drive

External Hard drives are connected to the computer with a cable plugged into the USB port. These hard drives are portable which means they can be taken from one computer to another and transfer files from the external hard drive to the internal hard drive inside a computer.
